Amel Group announces that on the 25th of March, 2018; the General Authority for Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) has approved Amel Group, as the SEGM Consortium Lead, to implement the strategic glass manufacturing project in the Sokhna region, located in Egypt.
General Authority for Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCAZONE) encompasses an area of 461 KM and has authority over 6 Ports along the banks of the Suez Canal, providing land usufruct basis to Amel Group for up to 50 years (renewable).
The SEGM Project encompasses the extraction of one of the purest forms of silica sand found in Sinai, Egypt. Once extracted and taken through the various stages of the manufacturing process, the purified silica will be used to produce three (3) main production lines:
- High Quality Glass for Architectural and Construction Industries.
- High Quality Thin Glass for the automotive industry, tinted glass for solar panels, and other unique products.
- Ultra-Thin Glass for the most advanced technologies.
In addition to the 3 production lines, Amel Group will also design a state-of-the-art Research & Development facility, specifically targeted to advance current technology in the glass industry.
